545 People Vs. 300 million People Charlie Reese Gives The Facts
72
Charlie Reese was a syndicated columnist and editor for the Orlando Sentinel from 1971-2001. King Features Syndicate distributed his column three times a week for thirty years. Charlie Reese is known for his candid mannerisms and conservative view points. His contribution to www.LewRockwell.com and www.antiwar.com submitting his viewpoints have been read by both Democrats and Republicans, he is what most consider a swing voter and based his decisions on the cold hard facts. He did not dance around the issues, clarifying each question that an American would ask. His last column was written August 30,2008 for LewRockwell.com citing that he was retiring and would no longer be writing. The site continues to run his columns enabling others to read his views from a different point of view.
Charlie Reese was brought to my attention through an e-mail recently and placed many of our issues today into perspective. The words that he had written made complete sense. We blame the Democrats, we blame the Republicans but whose fault is it really? His words that were written will not be taken out of context and are verbatim that is printed here, you decide who is at fault let your case be heard before your peers, state your case but be diplomatic.
People's Problems by Charlie Reese
This is the simplest, most understandable and truest explanation of the woes of the nation and who caused them, as well as how to cure them. This should be sent to every person in the U.S., including the '545'. 545 People By Charlie Reese --
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, why we have deficits? ***This is certainly a great question, makes sense.
Have you ever wondered why, if all thepoliticians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes? *** Another question that raises a flag.
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does ****He certainly does and why is that?
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. ****Are you listening?
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does. *****They sure do.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does. ****Imagine that.
You and I don't control monetary policy, The Federal Reserve Bank does. ****Go figure
100 Senators, 435 Congressmen, 1 president & 9 Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country. **** Do you agree?
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress.
In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank. I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing YOU that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. ***Certainly does.
No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. ***** Very good point.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. ***Absolutely correct.
Who is the speaker of the House? **** Nancy Pelosi
She is the leader of the majority party.
She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to. ***They certainly can, many of us were taught that in school.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility. *** I honestly agree with this comment.
I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. ****Can you?
When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. ***Interesting thought do you agree?
Should We As A Country Vote All 545 Out Of Congress?
See results without votingWho Should We Have In The White House After This Term ?
See results without votingIf the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. ***Do they?
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. ***What do you think?
If the Marines are in IRAQ, it's because they want them in IRAQ. *** Do we agree?
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way. ***Your thoughts.
There are no insoluble government problems. *** What do you think?
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like 'the economy,' 'inflation' or 'politics' that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
After Thought
What he has stated has many pros and cons even though I may disagree with some of his work that he has written this one in general had me reading , thinking and re-evaluating our Countries direction. As Americans what can we do to improve our government? Shouldn't we work together as a nation, instead of dividing ourselves? We need to come together if we are looking for change not divide ourselves like the 545 are asking us to , 300 million against 545 it is our Country, our choice. Ask yourselves what are you going to do to make a change? Stand up and be heard? Or sit back and complain? We have choices and it is time we begin to use them.

Nice article, AE. I hoping the next election is both conservative and republican. I am hoping the idiots can get their act together. They got to or the dems will totally destroy us.
Keep on hubbing!
all life counts we can save just working for the good of people great hub thanks
Who in their right mind would vote Dem in light of modern times ?
Great Hub AEvans...as always right on track...we watched all the elections from here in Canada and not hard to see where something has gone sideways quickly...go get em Girl...maybe you should run...?
Blessings and Hugs
You always express yourself so well, AEvans! Good hub!
Very interesting hub and you got a good point there. I have been angry all this time because they hammer Mr Obama but what can he do if they vote against any of gis suggestion just to make him look incompetent. Just for that reason not if it is good or bad for the country. The Republicans just to get into power again. It is the same over here. The Conservatives never have a better suggestions but just critizise. Any one do that. A four year old can do that. Thank you for a very interestingly written hub and great read.
Thank you for this. I read Charlie Reese for years & was glad to have a reminder of his common sense wisdom.
Great hub, thanks.
Great hub AE!....November, November....Oh...We will remember! :)
AEvans, LOVE THIS HUB. Now I find a lot of people complaining about issues with zero facts to back them. It's as if they choose what they feel is the popular side and stick to it. I'm concerned about the american people being lazy and uninformed. We The People make the difference if we just stand up and go grass roots! YOU GO GIRL! Thanks and Peace :)
Hum, Most of the information of this hub looks copied!
Very good hub. It needs to be advertised so I will add it to FB, Blogger and Twitter. Spread the word that revolution is on the way!!!
Wonderful Hub
AE another thought provoking hub - cheers!
One voter stated above that the "Dems" would "destroy us". I'm sorry but- are you out of your mind? The message on this page is not read or understood my the voter. It's certainly not taken seriously.
Our country is besieged by lying Democrats and lying Republicans! This is the most charming dictatorship in the world! Voting for these parties is throwing your vote away. Worse- it's voting for the lesser of two evils -which means you're voting for evil! Thanks for a great hub AEvans!
I greatly enjoyed reading this Hub. I live in Orlando and so have read countless articles written by Charlie Reese. The guy simply has horse sense, as they used to say. I think his views, as expressed on this page, represent reality, if a somewhat simplified version of reality.
So glad to see this posted. What gets started as opinion can be formulated into policy within our society. But I like how you bring up a standard to help gauge American thought. This is important stuff.
I fined the article most satisfying, indeed I do. I believe that most people in America are confuse, most of the time. We really dont know who telling the truth. red or blue. these 545 indivials present them self, especially on the great eye (tv) as those they are at war with each other. I wouldn't be suprise if we are the one they are at war agsinat. food for thouht.
