HubPages Why It Is A Great Site To Write At

A Brief History About HubPages
Interested about how HubPages began, I e-mailed the team at Hub Pages and they provided me with informative information. Our website should have won the MASHABLE Award but like they say " If you cannot achieve it this time, keep striving until you can". The Story of Hub Pages intrigued me so much that I had to share it with all who was willing to take the time to read.
In January 2006 three of West Coast finest saddled up there horses, leaving the comforts of home.Together the Three Amigos' moved into a three level home that also included a live-in friend who chose not to leave. Furry but comforting she was sometimes annoying but the Three Amigos' allowed her to stay as they set up shop in the garage.
Along with Paul Edmondson, Paul Deeds and Jay Reitz they spent their fun-filled days trying to raise money and creating the American dream. After countless hours of hard work, eating out at the local restaurant which did not include maintaining the caffeine high to keep the Three Amigos' going they finally accomplished what they were set out to do, giving birth to a website that ranks high within Google. No matter where you go or what you type in Hub Pages is always listed on the 1st page. For a website so young not only is it an achievement but an honor to be ranked so high amongst the masses. Hub Pages may not cater to adult content but that is what sets them apart from many other writing sites.
Take the time to read the history of hubPages , find out what they are about once you understand how they started, where their idea came from and what sets them apart from many other websites. you will realize that this site is the most unique site on the Internet.

Memory Of Joining HubPages
Sitting at my computer one evening about two and half years ago, fumbling through the Internet and tired of writing for Helium while making mere pennies. I ran across a writing site called Hub pages. I had heard of Associated Content, Blogger etc. but this was the first time I had ever heard of Hub pages. Clicking on the link, anxiously I read and in a matter of minutes I had signed-up and joined. Clueless to what I was going to write about I went directly to the capsules overlooking the help button. Being used to other writing environments on the Web where the character of the writers were dry, boring and down right rude. Not ready for blogging and new on the Internet, I finally found a site that made me feel comfortable and welcome. Every night I would log-in to Hub Pages to see what was happening. Many times only a few of us were on-line or nobody at all. Believing in the site I finally had gotten my feet wet and published my first hub.
Deciding to take a stroll in to the forums one evening, I ventured into the forum. Fearful that people would turn the other cheek, I began to strike up a conversation. Needless to say we spent several hours discussing an unusual topic without a single argument. I cannot recall that thread so many moons ago but I do remember Misha, Sun Seven and jimmythejock were on there, with open arms they welcomed me and thus my writing on hub pages and making new friendships began.
Positives And Negatives On HubPages
In the past year there have been positives and negatives on Hub Pages. We have seen arguments, bickering, disagreements, and bans on the forums. With any writing site there will be issues and many of us have learned how to avoid them; however if all of us took the time to read the rules and threads that Hub Pages provides this would eliminate a majority of problems that have arisen. The help button in the upper right-hand corner of the page provides valuable information about the laws of the land set in place to avoid these types of concerns, issues and disagreements. I personally have been lazy and find myself looking to others instead of taking the time to review and update myself with the most current information. Have I been smacked on the hand? Absolutely but then I realized I was the person responsible for my own actions. Writing negative words about a site, is not a reflection of them but of you,
The difference between this site and other writing or blogging sites is easy, the staff at Hubpages cares, not allowing others to be badgered, threatened, cussed at, disrespected or another person's character defamed. This is what sets them apart from the rest. .
On the positive side HubPages is a community of writers from beginners to professional who share there interest and passion for writing. There are (123,172) publisher users which hosts over 16 million visitors a month. That is certainly a massive amount of traffic for a website that just turned four years old. The potential for earning money is certainly there! If you wish to just write for fun and share your thoughts while making a few new virtual friends you are invited to do that too. Signing up is easy and absolutely free once you get started you will find that you will be back often to see what is happening, share thoughts, writing, and ideas.
If you are looking for a new recipe, you will find them here. Like poetry? It is amazing how many poets share their emotions and words on a hub.
Christianity, Atheism, Creative Writing, Life stories,How-to's, Product and Music Reviews, the list goes on and on. Whatever you are looking for or whatever your passion is you can put them in words on Hub Pages.

Why I Love Hub Pages
Hub Pages is the epitome of what a writing community should be. Filled with life, creativity, friendships, learning, respect and professionalism. Regardlless of what happens on Hub Pages the relationships that you build with others cannot be compared to any other writing site on the Internet. I have written on other sites and occassionally still do but once I joined HP I was committed to ride out the storms, go through the growing pains and gain knowledge as I learned.

AE . . thanks for this one. . .I knew a little about how Hubpages came about. . and you just helped me learn a little bit more. . the 3 Amigos. . how great is that. I am sure I will come back to this one a few more times. . being new here I am learning everyday... and I am loving my time here on the Hub more and more each day. And for sure it is because of people like you who grace these pages.
Thank you for this hub. It answered many of the questions which have flitted through my mind since I joined.
Sofar it is the best site I have found. I made so many friends and met so many great writers. I am so pleased that I found HP. Thank you for your article.
thanks for the story and sharing your experience of hubpages...I found hubpages the same way (with a google search). I remember clicking the link and it taking me to a page I had never seen before. I looked at the page for several minutes before I realized what it was all about...thanks
I agree with you and others that HP is a wonderful place to be. I believe His Spirit led me here and I consider it a gift from God. It allows the unique opportunity for continued education, share in the world of others from around the world, commune with other saints and perhaps, give unbelievers something new to think about, and generally be a part of a world within a world, within a world.
Thank you for this post,
Forever His,
I am in full agreement. This is an exciting place to be because of so many great writers who are encouragers. Thank you for writing this Hub. I appreciated it very much.
I always love to read about HP, and enjoyed reading about your own start here.
Can I just correct you? One can have as many backuplinks to another sites as he/she wants...not only 2. But: they have to be in connection with the topic of the Hub, and not more then 2 should link to the SAME website.
Thank you for writting this article, I certainly enjoy being here, and I do earn money as well.
Nice hub. I also agree that hubpages is a great place to be. I've tried other similar sites, but they don't hold a candle to hubpages. The community here is outstanding, with such a variety of writers.
it is good and a great place to learn how to internet writing works. People here have been so helpful. If you ask a question, someone always has an answer to guide you. THANKYOU
I love H/P for all the reasons you enumerated plus some of my own: 1) face to face interaction and feed back 2) possibility to follow writers with similar interests 3) making friends from all over the world and learning about different cultures and points of view.
Negative? so far I found none, but read some complains about the forum - so I stay away most of the time or just post an opinion and leave so we don't get into a controversy as I have seen on the political forum or the religious one (most opinionated people are frequent visitors)
Compared to any other site, H/P is by far the best
Unlike many sites, you are not bound by rules to be a commercial site, if you just want to write and get feedback, it's a good place to be and if you want to be commercial, you can and have all kind of resources 24/7 to learn what you need to know. I like hubpages mainly because you can actually find people that write stories. History, fact and fiction.
Keep on hubbing!
I still feel like a newbie here on hubpages, but I really love it here! I've had a lot of fun and I've learned a lot. Thanks for writing this great hub!
I got the image of three amigos in my head and I now can't shake it. I see them with big sombreroes hunched over a keyboard while 'La cucuracha' plays in the background. I see Froda playing with speedy Gonzales.
My mind goes to very strange places sometimes.
I love hubpages! I must admit that I have a Squidoo account as well, but enjoy Hubpages so much more. I get a ton more traffic and the quality of the traffic is so much better. I just know that hubpages is an excellent website with some great ways to generate money and gain valuable friendship!
Seems we've experienced some of the same things - on the same sites - and both wound up here on Hub Pages. Like you, I enjoy it tremendously and have met some wonderful new friends here. Your informative Hub filled me in on some things I was still "iffy" about -- am sure I'll make some goofs but that's just part of the learning curve. Great Hub and thanks bunches for it! Best, Sis
Nice one, the good people always make any time in our lives memorable and enjoyable. So far so good with hub pages. Thanks for taking the time for this hub.
Since I am so new at this medium, (Internet, Writing, Computer etc), I find HubPages to be the easiest most user friendly site on the Internet. Honestly I have tried, since joining HubPages, to join other sites and I am so befuddled that I always give up and come back to "The Pages" as I have dubbed them. I really love this site.
And you AE are wonderful for writing such a favorable hub, and I might add well written.
That's one of the aspects of HubPages that I'm finding to be very attractive. I have written fiction, non-fiction, I like to write vignettes and sometimes humorous anecdotes. HubPages opens the door for me to do that because each Hub is separate. Or at least it's able to be separated. I can be diverse here and explore the many different styles, forms, and writing on topics that interest me.
Like I've said a couple times, I'm kicking myself for signing up over a year ago and only just a couple of weeks ago started hubbing.
HubPages has given me a comfort level I've found nowhere else, AE. I really do appreciate the team, and have had glitches now and then which they have addressed asap.
Thanks for this 'tribute!'
Thanks for a great article. I love HubPages it has taught me a lot about myself and how to write, which I really didn't think I could do. HubPages makes it easy.
Well, it was certainly worth the wait. :)
I totally share your enthusiasm for Hubpages. I definitely feel at home and have been very pleased in the short time I have been here. Thanks for sharing and I am sure that many agree with you.
Sis, I am now putting my feet into the water and I commend you for such great writing, it is certainly a wonderful site and I am now finally going to begin to try and write as consistent as you. Thanks so much for being by my side.
I love Hubpages and its got a great team who give you all the tools you need to make money. As someone who has a lifetime ban from the Forums I bear no grudge or hard feelings against the Hubpages team.
I was going though some crap in my life and was drinking too much and got abusive too many times. Twas my own fault for bringing my problems onto Hubs but to be fair the Hubsteam only banned me from the Forums, they could have banned me from writing and well writing is my pleasure so anyone banned get off hubpages back because like me you deserved it, I was given 3 warnings and I ignored them so sorry I gotta say the hubstaff are ok.
Plus I love the people on here, from all over the world, its just amazing and well you know I am always yer number 1 fan, great hub, really enjoyed the history lesson ; )
I have to say that so far I have enjoyed my experience with Hub Pages and the wonderful Hubbers. I have no single complaint so far and enjoy the visits. Some days I can spend a few hours and other days I can't but I always look forward to it. You are an example why Hub Pages has been so succesful as I am sure many more have contributed to their success. Keep up the good work.
Hi AEvans,
I'm a newbie at Hubpage. Do take a look at my hub and give me your comments.
You have a huge numbers of followers. Good Job
AEvans, I share your sentiments with HubPages, it really is a great online community. It has been great to find other hubbers with whom I have so much in common. I love how hubbers come together and support one another in times of hardship and adversity.
It is a wonderful site to write on and I should write more, but I find myself reading more then writing. You certainly inspire me and I to enjoy hubpages!
I agree it is a great site to write on for all the reasons you and your commenters expressed.
I'd like to keep 100% of revenue or get paid on demand (of course!), but then I think of all the quite outstanding technology, marketing, and user-interface innovations the Team makes possible to showcase MY writing, and then I think, thank goodness I don't have to go through all that stuff on my own (I tried; it didn't work). They earn their 40% from me, and that's not an unreasonable fee or commission, while I still retain the rights to my own work. How much does a literary agent get? A web developer for your own site? A publicist? How about all the expenses of running your own web operation?
This is one of the very few venues where a writer can leave the technical aspects to someone else, write about most anything, get decent to good or even great traffic, and get paid for it.
Thumbs up on this one, AEvans.
Very Good Hub!!! I loved the fact that you laid out every detail from beginning to end! You are right what makes Hub Pages different from the rest is they keep the site Clean and Safe.
Once again AEvans another wonderful and detailed Hub!!
Oh By The Way You Got Mail:)

I love Hubpages too. This is a site whereby you can enjoy your private time writing, and when you choose to interact, you can too. And not to mention all the never-ending knowledge that one could get. Great hub.
You have truly greased the wheel that holds the many hubs that make our world here spin. A carousel of delight for all who climb aboard and take the ride through many other's minds. Superb work here~~~~MFB III
Hey, there AEvans! I'm still writing on several different sites but Hubpages is the one where I feel the greatest sense of community. I really enjoy writing product Hubs, etc. and I'll have to write some more community-oriented Hubs.
AEvans, this is a very thoughtful and informative article. I am deeply grateful for all the care and attention you devote to all up-and-coming members of the Hub community. Keep it up!
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at the hub and have talked to and corresponded with some very interesting, talented, loving, people and I am so glad I decided to join. I was going to give up writing until the hub,. Writing it on paper and reading it to yourself is not as good as showing it to the world and getting feedback from different point of view. I am so happy I am still writing and I hope the hub keeps turnin' til the world starts burnin' lol loved this hub rated it up ~hugs~

AEvans: I love, love Hubpages, this is why I am still around. We create a positive or negative experience depending on how we connect or react. I find Hubpages, classy and yet down to earth. We have well established writers and authors who are also pretty down to earth. I voted for Hubpages and will continue when given the opportunity again.
Thanks for writing this. Thumbs up!
