Glendale Arizona: Missing 5 year old Jhessye Shockley
83
Each year children are reported missing. There are those who are immediately located and placed back home with their families and others, whose case remains open until the child/children are returned home. Sadly there are also those who are never located or are found murdered every year. How can people be so inhumane? Heartless?
The search continues for 5-year old missing Glendale, Arizona girl Jhessye ( Jesse) Shockley. Jhessye was reported missing on October 11,2011. Last seen by her older siblings while mom went to run an errand, there has not been any sign of her for over a week.
Glendale, Arizona police have not had any breaks in the case, but are diligent about finding 5-year old Jhessye Shockley. Leads have came in, but nothing lucrative at the present time.
Jhessye Shockley is approximately 3-feet-5 inches tall, 55 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
At the time of her disappearance she was last seen near Glendale and 43rd Avenue, wearing a solid-white t-shirt, blue jean shorts and pink flip flops. Her hair was long and placed in a ponytail. Glendale received tips from others in the neighborhood who had stated that a black female, about 120 pounds, between the age of 25-30 with black hair pulled up into a bun and brown eyes, was seen putting a child in black 1998-2000 4-door Chevy Malibu. The witnesses stated that the vehicle was headed East bound on Glendale Avenue. Eyewitnesses also stated that the child matched the description of 5-year old missing girl Jhessye Shockley.
The person currently has not came forward regarding this incident. They are not named as a suspect, but the Glendale Police department would like to talk to this person.
Glendale Police department is asking the public to look out for the little girl because her looks may have changed since her disappearance. She may have shorter hair or her hair could be styled differently.
They are holding a candlelight vigil for Jhessye's safe return. Her grandmother said, " She's out there, somebody's got her." Jhessye's grandmother Shirley Johnson believes she is out there and still alive. Her grandmother remains very hopeful and optimistic that her granddaughter will be returned soon.
There is a $16,000 reward for the safe return of Jhessye and Glendale Police Department is asking for the public's help.
If anyone has seen they are urged to contact the Glendale, Arizona Police Department at 623-930-HELP (4357).
Please if you have seen her or know her whereabouts, I ask that you bring this child home. This family is all over our local news and they are missing her. Jhessye's siblings are heartbroken and have been divided. They are currently with CPS, but only due to a prior incident in the past with their mom. Being placed in CPS has nothing to due with this case. The family is going through so much stress and hardship we ask as a state to just bring her back.
If anyone across the United States has seen a black female approximately 25-30 years old, driving a 1998-2000, 4-door Black Chevrolet Malibu with Arizona license plates. Who has a child that looks like Jhessye Shockley, please notify the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-4357 (HELP). Or if you wish not to be identified, you can call 1-800-WITNESS and leave a tip.
We have to bring this child home safely and only the public can help. For more information regarding Jhessye's disappearance please go to abc15.com for updates.
Please Tweet, Facebook, Digg or do whatever it takes to begin moving this nationally, the longer we wait. The longer it may take to find this adorable 5-year old little girl.

This little girl and her family are in my prayers. I am very distraught when children are kidnapped or hurt. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this AEvans and we will be in prayer for the safe return to the family and the home she belongs.
Blessings and Hugs
I hope this story eventually has a happy ending. It breaks my heart every day to turn on my TV and see another child who has been hurt. This world is awful.
This happened just a couple of miles from where I live. An Amber Alert went out, but no success. Police seem to think she's safe, but abducted. I hope so.
I wonder why this one is not national news?
So sad, but I believe raising awareness can help make a difference. I will share it on F/B.
Good of you to write about her.
I hope she is reunited with her loved ones soon. She has such a beautiful smile...
Glad for you to get the word out for people to be aware and watchful. I am sure she and her family immensely appreciate it. I would. I pray that she may be found safe.
Thanks for this story. Prayers are on the way!
Hi AEvans! Thanks for keeping this abduction in the forefront for us. I have been reading about this girl and, like many others, am really concerned about her whereabouts.
There is no word I think in the entire world in any language to adequately define any person who kidnaps a child. All I can ever think of is the horror the child must be experiencing, because even if their parents are not the best (not in this case, but others), they are still that child's source of comfort and safety net. I cannot fathom what happens in a child's mind. I saw this on tv for a fraction of a second, and am so glad you wrote this hub. Maybe all our prayers, and the efforts of those putting in physical effort and brainpower will find her unharmed. Children are so very, very precious--I cry worse than w/a Hallmark commercial over these kids! So many!
What a beautiful little girl. How sad for her family. I pry she will be found safe and sound.
I have been out of touch with the internet and tv for a week now and stumbled upon your hub. This is a terrible thing to have happen. It is tragic that people will stoop to this level. This is the second child that I have heard of just in the last two weeks that has been taken. I will add her and her family to my prayer list. Thank you for sharing this information.
Thank you for publishing this, AE.
The more eyes we have on this case, the better. May little Jhessye be found safe and sound.
That is so disgusting to do a thing like that. So heartless. What must the mother and family go through. I don't this happens now so often. Hope she will be alright and comes home soon.
Oh Almighty GOD in the name of Jesus please help little jhessey to be found safe and sound. Please hurry Lord God and strenghtn her family and loved ones at this devstating time in their lives. Please keep all our little ones and our children safe and from harms way. Jesus hurry in your Mighty Name return many lost children and very soon.
Thank you aevans for writing the hub so many can pray. I can not imagine the hearts of the family. I do not want to. I just feel so sad now and I pray she is returned and so very soon. There are many lost or stolen God help to bring them home to the families. Hugs to yoy aevans. In Christ Jesus love you.
such a cute and precious child. Such a scary thing for a child to go through. I hope she is found, safe, and is able to return to her family.
This is so sad. Please help if you have any info. God help her please.
Now we learn that the mother has child abuse problems, and is calling the news coverage "racist".
And the little girl is still missing.
This is a sad and all too frequent occurrence in our world of today and it plays out on the innocent child. We live in a desperate and dangerous world yet our surroundings lead us to feel and think that we are safe through our sheer familiarity. Yet, strangers lurk and watch...waiting for the chance. We must all be alert and try to guard against such happenings...we owed that to the children. I pray for this little girl. Thanks for making us aware. WB
Thank you so much for posting this. I have been reading about this little darling's case and reading comments posted by others. The comments really make me as sad as the little girls disappearance. The only thing those of us who are not close to the case need to do (and this includes baby Lisa as well) is pray that these children are safe and that they be returned home safely.
I live in Arkansas and hope and pray that this wonderful gift of God, is found safe, and took back to her loved ones;) I'm making sure that my eyes are opened and prayers will be difently be used in my family for her and her family. Just remember everyone she is a child of God. And have hope that she is returned home to her family. May god bless your family at this devasting time. Much love here.
I heard Nancy Grace talked about this story, kudos to her, but baby Lisa has taken over the national media. Doesn't this missing child deserve the same attention? She is stil missing. She is an innocent victim and need all the attention. I am speaking in the presnet because I am hoping that she is still in this world. My prayer gord out to her prayer.
"WillStarr: My heart says the mom doesn't have anything to do with it at all."
Sometimes, it's better to listen to your gut and ignore your heart. I became suspicious of this woman the first time I saw her, and that was when she was claiming racism. She seemed more concerned with the lack of national publicity than for the safety of her daughter. I had a bad feeling about her right away. I'm deeply saddened to have been right.
You aren't alone, Will. I think when we have first reactions of that kind (I did too) in situations like this, it's perhaps because we need an immediate person to blame, and we've seen and heard and know of so many, many "evil" parents (and I mean that word for every single thing a parent or guardian does to a child), it just comes to us. Conditioned maybe by the increasing violence and horror of this world?
Update:
Glendale police now tell us that the mother killed her, took her little body to Tempe, placed her in a garbage bag, and tossed her in a dumpster.
Sad, horrible, evil--every other disgusting, hateful word in any language would fit this situation. Like you, AE, it's inconceivable to me that people can actually do these things.
Not to "get Biblical" on everybody (not my way), but although things like this have happened for centuries, I don't think there's much doubt that the "civilization" in which we now live is "doomed" w/o divine intervention. The dynamics of what I call "personal evil" as in this case and those like it, combined w/those of natural disasters are increasing exponentially--much different than a century ago!
They have been searching the landfill for a few weeks now for her. They will find her body there and her mother will be arrested again. This time they will press charges because they will have a body. The mother had beat her so bad she locked her in a closet so no one could see her. She told the school the child had ringworm. Jhessey's sister told authorities that when her mother was gone she would let Jhessey out of the closet and give her some water. Her sister said she had black eyes and her hair had been pulled out, she looked like a zombie and the closet she was locked in smelled like "death". I will sleep better when this mother is behind bars. At least they did take the other children away again. Hopefully they don't give them back so she can kill another one. My prayers go to the remaining children. May God watch over them and guide them to being happy healthy members of society.

She is beautiful. I pray she is returned safe. These abductions must stop. We need stricter punishments for these people. Let us know when she is found.
