Through A Single Door I Walk
65
Through a single door I walk,
No doors to the left or right,
No turning back this time,
With darkness behind me,
There is only light beaming
No doors to the left or right,
My heart pounds with fear,
As the unknown takes hold,
a step in feeling whole once more.
Into the light I go, while a flood of
of emotions take hold, hoping
hoping the choice is right, I let
fear go into the night.
Through a single door I walk,
Hands trembling with fear,
reaching out to me, you
have drawn me near.
Holding me tight, I have
let fear go into the night.
Life's experiences have taught me, not to look back but to look forward into what can be and not what was. Sometimes it takes obstacles to overcome in order for us to go through one door. As we mature we find ourselves going through many doors and take multiple paths which can lead to destruction. If we begin to take only one path and not fear what is ahead of us then we can reach our goals of self-worth.
We should not ever fear what is best for us, but take chances if we approach it with a positive attitude then there is nothing to fear. We should always set goals, reflect on the goals that we have written and continue to commit ourselves to what we have laid before us.
Relationships are common ground for the unknown. When we are in love, we tend to look at the relationship through rose-colored glasses. There are moments when we have a inner-feeling but cannot figure out what it means. We need to always go with that feeling and not fear the truth.
" Hands trembling with fear, reaching out to me," means that the Lord is my rock and when I am fearful he holds me and comforts me like no other. It is up to us if we reach back. When we give it all to him and surrender who we are, we will overcome our fear and peace will abound us. For those who do not believe "hands trembling with fear, reaching out to me," can mean a new relationship, a new beginning with someone else. Or solidarity from within a person acknowledging that they can overcome anything if they believe in themselves.
The poem can be taken in many forms depending on what you as a person believes. For me it is gaining the strength to overcome all, based on my own beliefs. God is my rock and salvation and if I walk through only a single door and follow him he will catch me when I fall.
When I go into the light, I am walking beside him, listening and praising him. He is the Alpha and Omega my beginning and my end. When tears fall, the Lord wipes away my tears. When I stumble he plants my feet back on the ground and when I let go of fear, all things are possible with the Lord because I believe.

Hello there AEvans,
You wrote such a wonderful piece that roots into all Believers who at times might find a different door, as God gave us the free will to choose, but sooner or later will find that door of righteousness and contentment in the House of the LORD. We all go through experiences that make us stronger and... ultimately ready to follow up on his unfinish work... through us. Thanks for this piece of creativity that comes from within!
BE STILL
Oh what need do we have for that burning desire
the need to be greater the need to go higher
and what will we choose the fat or the lamb
when in a small still voice He tells us ‘I AM’
So take heart but take heed
don’t consider your needs
for the sparrow never toils or troubles
for true peace you will see
is to seek only He
who asks that we learn to be still

I always enjoy your writing when it comes from your heart :))
I would also love your feedback on my 'Mary's Canvas' short story; I look forward to your comments ;)
Your opening line is amazing - a compelling invitation to read on. Well-done!
"My heart pounds with fear,
As the unknown takes hold,
a step in feeling whole once more...."
Hi AEvans. Thanks for sharing your poetry. There are so many poets here on hubpages and I just love it. I am struck by those lines above. Intriguing to me that when a step becomes like an invitation to wholeness, we know we are taking a wonder filled step, yet our heart still pounds with fear as we are so much more familiar with being broken. I do not know if that is what you meant to say, but that's what popped into my head.
I have become "intrigued" not sure if that is the correct word, but how powerful the serenity prayer is and how powerful the third step prayer of the 12 step program is even for those who are not sure about God. God's response to these prayers seems pretty undeniable and awesome.
Anywho, thanks for sharing your journey in poetic verse with us.
Vern
An absolute magnificient poem and writing. Thank you for giving me that so much pleasure.
AE, Nice job. I wanna know if that pic is the real you. H
Sorry I’ve not been around much – too much end of year work to take care of. I admire folks who can write poetry. This is great. Someone said; if we are always looking in the rear view mirror – our future is behind us. I love this; “God is my rock and salvation and if I walk through only a single door and follow him he will catch me when I fall”. God has caught me many times and set my feet on a solid Rock. Thank you for sharing. Vote up, useful and beautiful. ~ eddie
Well I could not agree more with your assessment of life and the poem, always look forward and up never back or down. Being positive is the only way to live...cheers
Hi AEvans I would love your feedback on one of my new hubs as I really respect your opinion.
I do think it's an important subject that needs to be spread if you would be so kind :))
God so spoke to my heart this morning, through your words of...what I picture songs and words of praise! I woke up this morning with a new path, I know I have to take. It does involve taking a stand, moving forward...doing what I can do, and not looking back at what I haven't been able to do:) I so enjoyed your poem and your writing! Multiple Blessings to you, my hubber-friend...AEvans:) His timing is not always are timing, yet His timing is Perfect! Thank you:)
AEvans, you never fail to amaze me. Powerful poem and write-up. How true, you need to keep moving forward. If you keep looking back you tend to stand still.
on 12/7, hello, AEvans! Voted UP and all but funny on this delightful hub. I LOVED it. YOU, my friend, are God-gifted to write. Thanks for sharing this with us. And I apologize for not being here more to read your amazing hubs. I am not in good health and working to finish some stuff in case it worsens.
I do value and and thank YOU for following me. Honest. Have a Merry Christmas and I will try to be back more often. Kenneth
I am without words to express my sorrow for neglecting you. YOU are one of my most-loyal followers. I ask that you forgive me of this omissive sin. Kenneth
Thank you, Eva. This beautiful reminder to take the narrow path and glorify God - it sometimes isn't easy, especially in the midst of challenges, but His ways are so much higher than anything we could think of or imagine. The only way out is through, and with singleness of purpose to affirm the Highest authority through our words, actions and decisions, from a place of humility, I believe He continually leads us through and never gives us more than we can handle if we remember we are not handling it alone - He never leaves or forsakes us - and as you continue to walk in the light, may your path grow brighter and brighter as the noonday sun! Happy New Year!

Hi AEvans... My grandmother used to always say "Life is a pathway of roses, but along the pathway there wil be thorns." We need to stop and with courage deal with them.
For those whom have placed their trust in the Lord, we have a constant reassurance we are never alone.
A blessing to read this and prayers will be raised from Canada for smooth and level paths. Know that you are loved.
Blessings and Many Hugs
