Weird And Wackiest Ice Cream Flavors
By AEvans
After watching the travel channel and researching ice cream flavors. It has been concluded that as far back as fifth century B.C. when the Ancient Greeks blended a concoction of honey and mixed fruit to create snow cones, the human life form has indulged on this scrumptious frozen dessert for many centuries.
Although we have traditional favorites here in the United States. Globally you will find odd, unusual and absolutely weird ice cream flavors that have been created for just about anyone who has a craving for their favorite meal. Many of us would stick with a common flavor such as Chocolate, Vanilla or Strawberry. For others Rocky Road or possibly Cherry Garcia; however there are those who need something unique and zany to tantalize their taste buds.
Your either going to salivate when you review the flavors, or turn a little green when you discover the flavors that are some of the world's favorite ice cream flavors
Charcoal Ice Cream: Sound scrumptious? Amazingly it is not gray in color nor does it taste anything like charcoal. The charcoal ingredient is added to the ice cream to give it a little zing.
Shrimp Ice Cream: You got it! Added to vanilla or any flavor you could desire, the tiny little shrimp are added for those who have a strong craving for shrimp.
Bacon topped Ice cream: Mmmm... Do you enjoy bacon, eggs and milk? This flavor has sprinkles of bacon on top, adding to a little bit of crunch in every bite.
Spaghetti and Cheese Ice Cream: Served in Puerto Rico the base is cheese favored ice cream with ground up spaghetti pieces. This could be a child's dream.
Beer Flavored Ice Cream: For everyone out there who enjoys a beer, this ice cream bud is for you.. Wonder if lite beer or used or do they use draft?
Viagara Ice Cream: In Japan this is limited to one person per day. One wonders how they are able to remember who they served this interesting ice cream too.
French Toast Ice Cream: Enjoying Baskin-Robbins this became an all time favorite of the kids. Created with little bits of french toast and maple it honestly tastes scrumptious.
Octopus Ice Cream: Another Japanese favorite, the octopus is finely chopped and is covered with cherry ice. Lots of vitamins and sugar in this one.
Garlic Ice Cream: If you enjoy the flavor of garlic this one could become an American all time favorite. Maybe we should stick with something we are used too.
Chili Pepper Ice Cream: A tangy ice cream created in Singapore and loaded with Hot and spicey chili peppers in a tomato based ice cream. Some like it hot from what I can see!
Mash Cone Ice Cream: Popular in England created with Mashed potatoes, sausage, gravy and peas and placed into a cone. It sounds tasty for dinner, but in a cone? I dunno.
Caviar Ice Cream: Popular one in France and made with 60% sturgeon caviar. On a hot day caviar would not sit well in stomach.
All around the World they are hundreds if not thousands of types of ice cream that millions of people enjoy. What one person may not enjoy another person may find the flavor to be out of this world.
Would You Indulge In A Unique Or Zany Ice Cream?

AEvans, Interesting & Adventurous! And yes as you say "Wierd & Wacky!" This one really got my attention! Thank you for sharing, Peace & Blessings!
There are some very unusual flavors that I have never heard of before. I think French toast would be good. I love shrimp but probably not in ice cream. Thanks for an interesting hub.
WOW Those are some crazy flavors...Good Hub
Hey AEvans, I'll take them all! Wonder if there's a sashimi ice cream? :D
In Gilroy, California where they grow lots of garlic, I would be tempted to try garlic ice cream at least once were I ever to attend one of their festivals. You certainly listed some unusual flavors! :))
@ all: The travel channel was interesting so I had to dive in and research the flavors. There is also fish ice cream, zucchini ice cream anything that a person can create, they have it. I personally will stick with my favorites but there is always something weird and wacky for everyone. :)
The French Toast ice cream could possibly taste good...I'll keep you posted if I ever try it. Flavorful hub, sorta :)
Mmmm.... octopus ice cream. My favorite.
I can't imagine eating any of the above ice creams except for the french toast.
@ Rose West: lolololo :D I know it was a little hard for me to handle too. We are spoiled and simple in the U.S. :)
Cardisa: Kids like the french toast and honestly it isn't bad. Has a nice flavor, definitely a must try. :)
Best I ever tasted was Avocado...that was over 45 years ago and I still remember it. Thanks for the interesting hub.
Think I could do the French Toast and the mashed potato in a cone. But not the rest. Not even the caviar, and I LOVE caviar! Some things are best eaten in their original state. ;D
I never knew ice cream could get so wacky! Now I want to try some...
@Peter: Avocado? Well I may have to sample that one. :)
JamaGenee: I agree! :D I couldn't imagine a caviar ice cream either. lololo
Jenna Estefan: I don't know if I could try many of them but I am game to sample a couple. :)
Tired of the usual ice cream flavors. One of these days I'm going to opt for those 'meaty' ice cream flavors like bacon, shrimp. Going by the number of people who are willing to try a new ice cream flavor (found out that from your vote results), I'm sure you can make it into a successful business opportunity or something :)
Loved your hub on icecream. Don't we all love it!!
This hub was very interesting. I like new and different but some were a little to far out there for me. I would give some of them a try though. This was very informative for me. Thanks for teaching me something. Have to have the kids read this one too!
AE, it is so nice to hear (read) from you but no your icecreams are not my taste lol.
Yeah! They are unique ice cream flavors. I haven't taste them before. I guess I need a try.
Oh my. Your article reminds me of a show i watch called, "Chopped"; where chefs have to make a meal out of whatever strange ingredients are presented to them in a basket.
Interesting hub, makes me wonder why our ice cream is always sweet
I've had bacon ice cream before - DELICIOUS!
I'd be down to try some charcoal ice cream. Thanks for the hub. Voted up and interesting.
I would approach some of these flavors with much trepidation. LOL. I would, however, tentatively try the Charcoal one. :-)
divacratus: It does sound like an interesting business venture. mmmm... lol Thanks though for the warm thought.:)
J Burgraff: Thank you. :)
roshall: I to would only sample but never dive right in. No thank you. lol!
Hello, hello: I am right there with you, when it comes to some of the flavors. :D
melodyandes: Let me know once yo try them, I am curious to know your thoughts. :)
truesouldj: What channel is that on? It sounds familiar. People real do eat those flavors, they may taste pretty good, but I believe I will stick with the basic. :)
chefsref: That is a good question. I wonder if those flavors are sweet along with the shrimp etc. mmmmm...
Sunnyglitter: Are you serious? Well if you have tried something different, I will give it a shot. :)
Joe Macho: If you run across any, do let me know. Charcoal ice cream may have an interesting flavor. :)
paradigmsearch: You are the second person who is willing to try charcoal. lolo! I wonder where a person could purchase it?
Here's a little ice cream true story you might enjoy. In the 1920s Santa Cruz area rancher James Alonzo Brown began producing ice cream under the Moo Cow brand. He sold his product to railroad and steamship lines and had a chain of stores selling Moo Cow Ice Cream in Capitola, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Hollister and other towns. He had some strange sounding flavors such as fruit salad sherbert and a chocolate ice cream named "Moo Cow Pie". I wish I had been around to try that one!
rrtalley: That is wonderful history! The fruit salad sherbert sounds really good too.:)
And I thought licorice ice cream was unusual! Thanks for the fun, mind-expanding hub.
Storytellersrus: Oh you are so welcome and it was wonderful to see you! I am so glad you are still around.:)
The Japanese seem to have their fair share of weird ice cream flavors. I wonder if they have wasabi ice cream or ramen ice cream or maybe miso soup ice cream. ^_^
I've tried eating ginger ice cream and malunggay (moringa) ice cream in Bohol Bee Farm. I don't know if those count as weird. Hehe. :D
Susan Ng: I think there is wasabi ice cream, but I don't know about Ramen or Miso. :) Malunggay and ginger? I would count those as wacky, lololo! Were they good
? Well they sound good. :)
What a fun hub to read! I think I will just stick with standard flavors - 'specially french vanilla, chocolate and anything with nuts in it:) Voted up and thanks!
Hehe. The ginger ice cream was really good. The malunggay ice cream was good as well, it tasted a lot like avocado. :)
vocalcoach: I like standard exotic flavors myself. Rocky road, Cherry Garcia. I concur with you.:)
Susan Ng: I like avocado. :)That is definitely a must try.:)
Fun AND informative! I wouldn't touch many of those ones with my tongue OR my nose. I like my ice cream to unconsciously bring back sweet memories of boyhood... though I gotta admit I would go for that garlic flavor in a heartbeat :-) and mmmm ginger ice cream Susan Ng mentioned
OMG! These are some wild flavors,I can't imagine even trying any of the flavors. Very interesting article!
Caviar ice cream? Seriously? :D There's a new one: Gaga Ice Cream which is basically just breast milk. We are just inventive creatures! :)
Wow, I love shrimp and bacon, but I don't think I'd enjoy it with ice cream! I'm not surprised they came up with beer ice cream, though. We just got some pumpkin ice cream the other day. That's some good stuff!
Conrad Lovelle: I wouldn't eat them either. lololo! But I do have to be honest and say, I may try a few just to say I did it. :)
adrienne2: Some of them do sound strange, but at the same time wouldn't it be fun to just say, " I tried it?" lololo!
inaniLoquence: Breast milk would be disgusting. I could not imagine eating that one. Yuck! There is something really wrong with that one. loloo! But I am glad you shared. :)
Painted Seahorse: Pumpkin ice cream sounds so yummy! :)
....well I remember going to the world premiere of Ghandi many years ago (starring Ben Kingsley) and they were serving curried flavor popcorn - so anything is possible when it comes to marketing - and speaking of which - you really know how to market your hubs - what a (hub)fantastic and generous collection of subjects you have to offer - there is something for everyone; a wise move on your part because in that respect you may everyone out here in Hubville feel a little more important .......lake erie time ontario canada 8:23pm - I'm pleased to say I was in the lake today swimming for about 10 minutes - lol - not bad for a day in October in Canada but then again it felt like summer once again - the only problem being - is we are going in the wrong direction and by next week the furnace heat may be coming on again - as it did a week ago during a cold snap - weather, like life, is a roller coaster ride isn't it.
epigramman: Curried flavored popcorn? That sounds good. It is definitely a must try. Thank you for enjoying my variety of hubs, I write according to what I enjoy. I do have another account on HP which I write opposite of the work on here. If I can touch someone then I know I have accomplished something. If I can embrace another person then I know I have did my job as a writer. How exciting that you were able to swim in the lake! Our weather has fluctuated where I am and needless to say we are moving back into the 90's this week. lololo! Back to air conditioning for a little while longer. We are walking in your shoes! Glad you enjoyed the ice cream hub to. :)
..please tell me your other hub name ......and good morning to you from lake erie ontario canada 9:12am
epigramman: My other hubbber name is WhiteOrchids . I don't share that to often. :)
The caviar ice-cream sounds really gross! I will stick with my rocky road. HE HE
Chopped comes on the Food Network. Pretty good show.
hazelwood: I loved Rocky Road too! I do not like Caviar either, so I am right there with you! lololo! :D
trusouldj: I have never seen that one, but it could be interesting. :)
Fascinating hub. Bet some would taste pretty good. Becky loves ice cream. God Bless You Dear Heart.
stars439: Some of the ice cream sounds good, while others do not. lololo! Thanks for stopping by! :)

That must be why Greek ice cream is amazing! I loved eating it when my husband and I were on our honeymoon. I'm not one to try any crazy flavors like you mentioned but I am a HUGE ice cream fan. Thanks for sharing this tasty treat!
